Geraldine Arruela

Principal Attorney

Geraldine has experience with family-based immigration and humanitarian immigration cases. Her experience spans in many areas of immigration law, including humanitarian visas and asylum; family petitions for spouses, parents, siblings, and children; naturalization, visas for victims of criminal activity; and petition under the Violence Against Women Act. She also represents clients facing immigration issues related to removal.

Geraldine’s passion for immigrants’ rights developed during her undergraduate studies when she interned at World Relief Chicago in their resettlement department working with refugees from all over the world. Geraldine attended law school to pursue a career in immigration law. During her time in law school, she was part of the DePaul University College of Law Asylum & Immigration Legal Clinic where she was able to volunteer at the South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project. She also co-published a report called, “Unequal Protection: Disparate Treatment of Immigration Crime Victims in Cook, the Collar Counties, and Beyond” that demonstrated the discrepancies between Chicago and the Chicago collar count law enforcement agencies regarding the issuance of U-Visa Certifications for victims of crime.

Geraldine is admitted to practice Law in the State of Illinois. She is a graduate of the DePaul University College of Law and received her bachelor’s in Political Science and International Studies at DePaul University.
